The sun came out last Sunday and we took a big gamble and did not put a tent up. Somebody was watching over us as it was a warm beautiful day and trade was constant from gates opening at 10.00am through until 3.00pm. Mark Woodward’s auto jumble was again a great success.

There is no doubt that there is not anywhere near as much money about and we took virtually nothing on credit cards although we had a fully charged machine ready to go. We met many old friends and caught up on the gossip but everyone is feeling the pinch especially with increased fuel costs.

Still, life has to go on and we have to keep our expectations realistic. As usual there were piles of engine and body parts moving in all directions. Wheel barrows and trolleys zigzagged across the site. This is a very good event if you are building or restoring a vehicle and highly recommended. I am a very happy man as an old friend knew of a special item I have wanted for over 18 months and, lo and behold, he turned up with the very thing. I have been looking for a reflective 'T' plate for the back of my Brockhouse and now I have one. It is in excellent condition and looks as if it has never been fitted. I went home into the sun with a grin a mile wide. Then I came to the Severn Bridge and had to pay the £6 toll to get back home to Herefordshire...
