Shows in 2012

Well! - debate rages about Land Rover Shows in 2012 with different views between Sponsors, The Trade, Show Organisers and The Magazines. We are still undecided where you will see 1948 Original Equipment but we will soon make an announcement in the News Section. The writing is on the wall for outside events in general as many are being cancelled in 2012. Most cite the Olympics and the Queens Diamond Jubilee as the reason but we think it is much more about the economy.
We are getting ourselves set with a new trailer so that we can attend the smaller shows cost effectively. 2012 is going to be challenging for everyone except Bankers and Footballers and we all expect to feel the chill wind of economic restraint.
As you will see in our News Section a Land Rover Show returns to Eastnor Castle and as it is on our door step we are already committed to attend see www.eastnorlandrovershow.com for details.
We will also be at both the Newbury 4x4 spares days see www.newbury4x4vintagesparesday.co.uk for details. These two days, one on 1st April and one on 30th September, are a must for anyone restoring a Land Rover. They are Europe’s biggest Land Rover spares events and attract visitors from across the EU.
In addition to Billing, Peterborough, Driffield and Stoneleigh there is rumoured to be a new 4x4 & Military Show at Billing and also breaking news of a Land Rover Show at Shepton Mallet making a return. It appears site owners are unhappy with some organisers and are now keen to find new partners to stage events.
We wish there were more organisers like Mark Woodward who seems to understand what is needed by the trade and customers alike in the present economic climate.

Twelve things I wish I had known 12 years ago………..

1. Classic Cars are better than a pension fund.

2. Breathing fresh air and growing the food you eat really does make you feel better.

3. Red wine, chocolate and coffee in moderation are very good for you (according to recent reports in the Times).

4. If you are comfortable and healthy, material things do not matter.

5. True friendship never has a price.

6. Butty Bach – I only discovered this exceptional ale from Wye Valley Brewery 18 months ago.

7. In life you should listen to your soul.

8. Herefordshire really is God’s own County.

9. There is more around you in nature than you can ever see in one lifetime, so look more closely. I saw a Kingfisher after a gap of 35 years - it was spectacular.

10. It is better to challenge the mundane, poor service, overseas call centres and automated answering – they are sweeping the world.

11. It does not matter who is in power, we are all screwed - it’s a global economy!

12. The winner of the 2012 Grand National. I would be set to make a killing on 14th April.
