One Week of Sun

Well we have just heard on the news that we have had the wettest summer for 100 years. I guess we can all relate to this with the floods and show cancellations around the country.

Just to make us all feel a little better I thought you should see 'Homebase' on the one week of summer we did get. Halcyon Days of long lost summers are starting to dim in the memory but I really enjoyed haymaking this year.

My very good friend Daniel is in charge of all farm matters and he is to blame for starting our small herd of Dexter Cattle we split between the two of us. 'She who must not be named' is now spending hours in meditation, contemplating the herd names. My preference is a simple numbering sequence with the word 'Meat' as a prefix.

Daniel can be seen on his trusty David Brown 995 making bales.

After a lot of nervousness and watching the weather he got a good number of round silage bales for the cattle and an equally good crop of small hay bales for the sheep.

If only the sunny weather could have continued for an eight or ten week period, what a summer we might have had.

Roll on 2013 when we are hoping to beat our record of three barbeques which we set this year.
